Summer is out & School is in

It was back to the old routine today....

The school system thinks it is nice by easing them back in with 1/2 day (out at 11:05) on the first day. But, really what my girls would prefer is a 1/2 day beginning at 11:05. What teenager enjoys getting up at 5:30 am?

I'M A SURVIVOR

I did it! I survived the girls soccer retreat! It surprised me by being a lot of fun. I stopped at the store before I went and picked up some chips, cookies, candy & drinks as Chel had called me and told me they were all starving and to bring food and a box fan(for her personal convenience while sleeping). No one had brought snacks and all the camp included was meals. When I first arrived, I was attacked by 3 starving 16 year olds. After the team volleyball game, they did have a campfire that included S'mores! YUMMY!! Then a couple of games of Mafia, and lights out at 12:45ish.
This is what our tent/cabin looked like, and all I could envision was a night filled with heat, humidity & bugs. But, the night cooled off and we were so deep in the country you could see every star in the sky. Note to self: next time bring flashlight. We kept our tent doors open with the light on until we went to sleep and the bugs were minimal; just a few moths.
Not far from us, we did have a bathhouse with running water; Praise god for that!! And we did have a ceiling fan in the tent cabin.
I left first thing the next morning as we chaperones only needed to be there during the sleeping hours, and I desperately needed a shower in my own home.

Pet Adoption Day-Parker

Last Saturday, I had the privilege of helping out at a dog adoption day for Critter Cavalry Rescue at a new pet store that opened nearby. This is the rescue that we adopted Wonder & Lexi (you remember my failed attempt at fostering) from.
I was paired up with the sweetest little dog named Parker. Parker was rescued from a Kill Shelter the day before, and you could see it in his eyes that he was thankful. He loved being with all the other dogs and people.
We didn't find him a home that day, but I know they will. With a face and personality like his it won't take long.

Busy back to school days.....

5 more days and counting until school begins. I can't believe my oldest will be a Junior!
We have been very busy going to beginning of school open houses, writing checks, school sport meetings, writing checks, sport practices, writing checks, buying school supplies & clothes, writing checks, getting haircuts, writing checks, etc. I am serious, I think I have writers cramp from all the back to school checks I have written to the school system.
KK has spent the night at different friends houses about 8 of the last 12 days. Although, she does pop in every now and then with her hand out for $$.
I volunteered to go to with the IHS soccer team tonight to an overnight retreat . They will have rope courses, bonfires, lake swimming (snakes are possible), and other team bonding activities. I don't really know what I was thinking, because if you know me well, you know that teenagers are not my favorite thing. I would much rather be locked in a cell with one hundred 2-5 year olds. But, I will put on my best HAPPY face, and try to have as much fun as I can with 35 teenage girls with attitudes.
