A New Puppy (NO, not for me)

God works in mysterious ways. For some reason unknown to me, I checked the CCR (puppy rescue) website this morning and saw the cutest little puppy. Of course they are all cute, but this one had that something. Not sure what, but just that "something". Marty, the cavalier king charles spaniel, who was rescued from a puppy mill. I instantly thought in my heart "what a great little puppy for Grammy". But I wasn't sure that the rescue would adopt a dog out to someone who lived so far away or that this would even be the dog that she has been hoping for. Time to put the plan in motion.................

First, a call to Grammy where I casually mention this puppy. She checks the website and calls me back in 10 minutes to see if I will make a call to get her this puppy. I call Candace the Rescue Saint, and she tells me the puppy was just put on the website and she already has 6 calls on him. But, since I am a foster mom my call gets priority. We complete the application and it's a done deal. Grammy will be here on Friday and on Saturday at 10:00 this sweet precious little puppy will be an extended member of our family.

3v3 Soccer Tournament

Last weekend a great dad on KK's soccer team got a group of 6 players together and coached them in a 3v3 soccer tournament. His (and our) thought going into this was, this is just for fun, but once he took a look at the 6 players that volunteered to play for him, we all knew they would do very very well. KK was the only player on the team that had not played in a 3v3 format before. KK is front left.
Despite the rainy Saturday, and blistering 90 degree heat on Sunday, the girls did great and went undefeated all the way to the championship. We lost to a team of girls that play on the team that is our biggest competition in the state league. We had beat them the day before 4-0, but weren't so lucky in the championship and fell 3-2. The girls and parents however had a great time, as you can tell from the smiles on their faces!

Pool Days

Haven't been doing much. Spending lots of time at the pool. Katrina feels that this is the best place to perform the cheerleading stunts she so badly wants to do. But, her very mean parents will not let her pick up one more activity.

Grampy & Nana Visit

Every summer since I have lived in Tennessee Grampy & Nana have come to visit faithfully. Although we have a wonderful visit, it is more often than not cursed by a phone call informing them of a tragic event, usually a car accident, a visit to the hospital and several times death. The fact that they will even come visit with us is amazing and must be a test of faith. This time however, things went smoothly the entire visit.
Insert Chelsea in picture below: She was working during most of the visit. We put Grampy to work as usual hanging new ceiling fans (see post below) and we changed all the outside lights from gold to black. Nana was injured (before they came thankfully. Not thankfully you were injured, just thankfully not injured here!) and was on crutches, but she was a trooper and pushed forth crocheting her umpteenth million blanket, and keeping a happy smile! Note to self: Wonder dog does not like crutches!

We went out to eat several times, some meals good/some not so good, but being together with family you don't get to see often enough makes it all better!

Bonus Room Do-Over

The bonus room was the first room we fully decorated when we moved into our home 14 years ago. Your basic contractor beige with the cutest carousel "horsie" border. It was the playroom for our then 2 year old daughter. Well, that daughter is now 16 with an 11 year old sister. As you can imagine, it was definitely time for a re-do! I forgot to snap a picture before we took down the border but here are some before pictures:

Here are the after shots...................................................

We are loving the light greyish green color (Antique Marble at Sherwin Williams) and the new ceiling fan (installed by the greatest electrician/dad to have ever have graced the planet). I know exactly which window treatments I want, but I have been to 3 different Targets to get them and each Target only has 1. Of course I need a total of 4! I will check online today.

Accidents Happen!

I deleted my previous blog in error, and here I am starting anew!
