Lexi's new coat
Lexi and I went to Petsmart this morning to get a new collar. Somebody (no names will be mentioned here) chewed the plastic buckle off of hers and it would not stay tightened. We got a beautiful pink collar that hopefully will last longer than the previous one.
On our way out we happened to glance down another aisle and saw all the puppy jackets/sweaters/parkas were on clearance for 75 % off. She didn't really need another jacket, but we couldn't resist this cute one for $6.50! Pink suede-ish with furry trim. Lexi does not like to model (she could use some help here Daisy), and the other dogs wanted to play with the new jacket while it was on her, so she was doing her best to keep away from them while I was taking her picture.

Isn't she just so cute?? I think it's the ears! She would greet everyone coming into PetSmart while we were checking out, and they all loved her. She is a wonderful sweet ambassador for Pitbulls!

Sandie's remarkable story (a.k.a worlds most expensive cat)
One day Sandie appeared with what looked like his brother, Mason at the barn/school where we board our horses. They were so sweet and friendly that I immediately said if they could stay as barn cats I would feed and take care of them. They loved the barn life, because life at this barn isn't like it is at most. This barn is part of a very small private school, focusing on moderate/high i.q. children who need a smaller specialized learning environment. Horseback riding is part of the physical education program and there are children around everyday. These cats even get to sit in the classroom during the day; some on childrens' laps and some just in the window. Pretty much wherever they want to sleep or hangout, they can. Sandie would follow us around like a dog wherever we went; out to the pasture to get the horses on trail rides, etc.
After living in a crate for 8 weeks to limit movement, he was moved to my master bathroom for still some less limited movement for 6 weeks. This was his final surgery 7 months later to remove some pins.
I don't think he will ever get through airport security, but he is A-OK with that. He never wants to leave the confines of our house again! I thought Sandie would walk with a limp forever, but 4 years later you would never know what this poor angel has been through. And he was worth every penny!
Then one day, the dreaded phone call came. Sandie had been sleeping under a bush hogger when it was started up. They rushed him to my vet and the diagnosis was not good at first. The vet on call thought he should be put to sleep, my vet said he would most likely need his leg amputated. But, one more time he did the little pinch test on Sandie's toes and lo and behold there was feeling, and that was our first glimmer of hope.
My vet thought that with the proper care, several not cheap surgeries and months of rest Sandie would be o.k. to live the rest of his days as an indoor cat. Then the decision was placed on us, could we afford to pay for all of the surgeries? It was heart wrenching, but then we decided, how could we not?
After the initial surgery on his front and back leg, it left him looking like what we called "Frankenkitty". He was wired, pinned, stapled and stitched on both his front and rear right legs.

Twizzler Grace
Twizzler is a calm and mellow girl with a VERY HEALTHY appetite. She is always the first one with her face in the food bowl! Other than her large tummy, the rest of her is quite small, she just looks like she is ready to give birth at any moment. She loves to sleep on top of the pillow right above your head and has the loudest of all purrs,! At first it kept me awake, but now it just lulls me to sleep and I have a hard time sleeping in complete silence.
Twizzi also has some anxiety issues that we have never been able to figure out. She likes to pull out the fur on her large tummy and on her back legs. You would never know she was anxious as she is always the calmest of cats and we have never actually seen her pull it out, but she is bare naked in places and the vet says she pulls it out. She had several tests years ago, but all came back normal. We are now in the process of buying a pheromone diffuser plug-in and see if that helps. They are not cheap, so let me know if any of you have actually used one and if it helped.

We didn't really need a canal in the backyard.....
This is what a coonhound does in the backyard when you have moles in your lawn. He digs and digs and digs the entire tunnel up, and this isn't even the whole thing! It is at least 15 feet long.
It rained the other day and filled up with water, it looked like a canal had been placed in our back yard. When he got to the end of the tunnel, he went for depth in lieu of length....
Poor little Lexi Lu stuck her front paws in and I couldn't see half her body! Jethro tried to look like it wasn't him who dug the entire masterpiece, but all the evidence pointed to the crusty dried dirt all over his nose!
